California’s school system is failing. Radical policies and social agendas from activists and bureaucrats have harmed our students. Our teachers and our students are left to suffer. California spends more per student than any other state, and we suffer from the lowest metrics of success and student learning. Across the board, our students are struggling. Failing schools are leaving an entire generation of California students behind. In 2023, just 43% of California students were reading at grade level by the third grade, and only 35% of California students achieved state math standards for their grade level. We have built a bureaucracy that is failing our children. We must do better.
Students deserve a world-class education that works for them and prepares them for adulthood with tools for success in their personal lives and in the workplace.
Learning First
- Prioritize fundamental skills – reading, writing, math, and science to prepare students to enter the workforce
- Support career-technical education that gives students real-world skills that translate to job opportunities
- Encourage and expand access to high-performing charter schools that are creating innovative new learning environments outside of our public-school districts
Teaching Workforce
- Increase funding for teacher training and recruitment programs to help with the widespread teacher shortage
- Ensure school funding goes directly to teachers, students, and the classroom
School Safety
- Ensure every public-school campus has access to School Resource Officers that are trained and equipped to respond to crime and emergency situations
- Promote counseling and mental health programs to support the healthy emotional well-being of students
Undo Harmful Regulations
- Repeal AB 1955 to restore parental rights over their children when we send them to school
